Friday 14th August - Walking With Dinosaurs Live!

Not too much chat, we went to see Walking with Dinosaurs Live tonight at Birmingham NIA. It was brilliant, if a little short, but I guess that was to cater for the children. Lots of brilliant dinosaurs, a really interesting show. Will get Jamie to fill in the names of the dinos I don't know - he is, like every 9 year old, a dinosaur expert. If you haven't watched the TV series of Walking with Dinosaurs, Beasts etc get them from your local library they are so worth watching. Well here are my pictures, not the best I've taken, but the conditions were difficult.

The narrator - a cross between Indiana Jones and Paul Serrano (a paleontologist - he is worth checking out he is twc*).

The set was a fairly bare landscape to start with, just a few rocks in the centre of the arena. We weren't quite sure what to expect and then this chap turned up - this is a Plateosaurus, herbivore of the Triassic.

and another hatching

plants began to grow, and so did the dinosaurs here is Brachiosaurus from the Jurassic.
The plants just appeared out of nowhere, and then the trees,

this is one of my favourites the Stegosaurus,

and above is Big Al, the Allosaurus

Here are a pair of Torosaurus from the Cretaceous battling it out to be alpha male,

then came the scary Utahraptor (10 points if you can guess where he was first discovered!).

and by this point flowers were growing too, not sure how I'd use this one in an arrangement, might be a bit big!

Another of my favourites, Ankylosaurus

and then the one we had all been waiting for Tyrannosaurus Rex (and it was huge!)

and scary!!!!!!!

Ciao

Sue
